Taizé Evening Prayer
During Lent, Advent and other quiet, contemplative services

During Lent and Advent and sometimes on other occasions, we gather for Taizé evening prayer. This is a quiet, contemplative service. Before a wooden cross and in the light of votive candles, we immerse ourselves in repeated chants and songs, prayers, readings, and a short meditation, all of which contribute to a deep sense of peace.
A reader, a presider, and a musical leader guide the gathering. This simple, beautiful type of worship originated in the Taizé Community, an ecumenical monastic community in France, and now we help it reverberate throughout the world.
